Genesis Queen Blog Spot

"Genesis Queen"
Book 3 in ROAD TO HELL series

Victory is hollow when fate maneuvers one as a pawn.

Madison’s mission is complete. Nix is rescued from Hell and her son safe from his dark destiny. But as she rests in the safe harbor of Nix’s love, her demonic husband warns of a murderous plot. Can she trust that it’s the truth and not another scheme to claim her for Hell’s throne?

Sometimes internal conflict can house our biggest demons.

With allies divided and prophecy heralding defeat, Madison gambles on Micah’s tenuous honor to keep their son protected. Torn between her heart’s desires and her dark requirements, Madison worries her hellish fate cannot be avoided. When betrayal comes from an unlikely direction, all their futures may be damned. In the darkest hour of Madison’s life, an undeniable providence will transpire. Who can she trust? And how far will she fall to defeat her foes?

Amid the rubble of defeat, will Hell’s Genesis Queen dawn?

Genesis Queen Excerpt:
“I like the way you move, kitten.”
She took a deep breath, like she needed the extra oxygen to deal with him. “Did you square away the angels in Hell?”
“Yes.” Details weren’t necessary when they both knew he’d instituted a brutal torture regimen for all of them. “Dance with me?”
“To this music?”
“You didn’t appear to be having any problem.” He held his hand out toward her.
She stared at his palm. Her expression was reminiscent of an individual confident selling their soul was a reckless choice but entering the deal anyway.
“I don’t bite.”
Her gaze felt like an impact against his. “You did in Hell.”
He wrangled the grin under control. “Then I won’t bite.”
“I don’t think it’s a good idea, Micah.”
“Why?”
A casual shrug when nothing about her body language suggested she felt relaxed. She crossed her arms beneath her breasts. “Nix says my idea of dancing is sex with clothes on. He couldn’t tolerate it and if he couldn’t….” She trailed off and gaped at him as if she’d just realized she’d been about to insult him.
Micah grinned. “I haven’t lived as long as I have without executing restraint.” He stepped closer to her. “I’ve controlled myself with you more than any other.” Because she is my woman and deserves my respect.
Madison allowed him to pull her arms free of their defensive fold. Holding her gaze, Micah coaxed her into his embrace…left hip to left hip, his leg thrusting between her knees, gliding upward and parting her thighs.
She bit her bottom lip. Her breathing grew shallow. The heavy beat of the music thumped around them. His pulse throbbed faster.
Hell’s delights, she felt fantastic against him.
“Relax,” he said when she remained inflexible. A soft wind would break one of her bones. “I only want to dance with you.” Like when they’d been married, just a different manner of movement. This one more intimate than what they normally partook.
Her focus locked on his jaw, and she sharply inhaled when he slid his palm down her back and settled on her hips. He executed the first moves and she followed. As if magnetized, they gyrated in perfect synchronicity.

Interview:
  1. Where do you get your writing inspiration from?
Gracen: Various places. A photo I run across on the web, a song or even something someone says can serve as inspiration. But nightmares are my favorite forms of inspiration. That’s how Pandora’s Box was conceived.

  1. Did you have to do any research for your books? If so what?
Gracen: Sometimes I research paranormal creatures and sometimes I just make up my own mythology. The Crow that shows up in Pandora’s Box was researched and the mythological attributes were used. The same can be said for other characters in the Road to Hell series. Being Southern and living in the Bible belt, I was spoon-fed Christian ideology. I incorporated religion into my Road to Hell series, but changed things up a bit. I prefer to take a known concept and alter it to add my own unique flare.

  1. What are you working on now?
Gracen: At this moment, I’m working on edits to Taboo Kisses, a ménage I wrote. I’m also writing the next books in the Road to Hell series—books 3.5 and 4.

  1. What is the hardest part of writing for you?
Gracen: Not getting distracted chatting with friends on Facebook. I love interacting with readers and friends, so if I don’t force myself off Facebook, I’ll waste lots of time when I should I should’ve been writing.

  1. What can readers expect next?
Gracen: Book 3 in the Road to Hell series, Genesis Queen, will release on December 18th with my publisher, Decadent Publishing. I’m self-publishing my ménage, Taboo Kisses, and I’m in the edits phase of it with a “real” editor (the biggest mistake self-publishers make in my opinion is not hiring a professional editor). I’m also working on another ménage, Demon Spelled, which will be self-published. Afterward, I have two books slated for the Road to Hell series.

  1. What question have you always wanted to be asked in an interview and how would you answer that question?
Gracen: That’s a tough question. Hmm….How about, “How much is you writing and how much is your Muse in charge?”
Answer…My muse—Dom—is always in charge. I sometimes do what I call “channel write” where I go into an almost trance-like state where I will write for hours if I’m not interrupted. This state freaks out my family because they say it looks like I’m ‘not here’. When I’m finally snatched out of that state—most of the time because I’m interrupted by family—the things written were never anything I planned, but are so vivid, clear and creative, that I’m giving Dom mental hugs and kisses for his brilliance.

  1. If you were writing a book about your life, what would the title be?
Gracen: Wow! Another toughie and back-to-back at that! LOL
I guess I’d go with…Surviving the Road to Hell because my childhood wasn’t easy. Much of what my heroine went through in Madison’s Life Lessons are similar to my childhood experiences with my father, except my dad was a drug addict and Madison’s father was a Baptist preacher. My own father is now a Baptist preacher and just as pious and faultless (in his mind) as Madison’s father thought he was. So yeah, I’d go with Surviving the Road to Hell because I’m stronger for the hell my father put me through.

  1. Who is your favorite author?
Gracen: Nalini Singh and Kresley Cole are at the top of my list for paranormal romances. Favorites for short erotic stories are Nichelle Gregory and Ann Mayburn (although Ann has a kick-ass demonic erotica series, For the Love of Evil).

  1. What is your guilty pleasure?
Gracen: Writing! I use a pseudonym so most people I interact with on a daily basis (and much of my family) have no idea I even write. Aside from that, Reese Cups, Reese Cups and more Reese Cups…tongue orgasms! ;-)

  1. Highest point of your writing career?
Gracen: Getting published. Nothing compares to the high of having a publisher say, “I want to contract your book.”

  1. Advice for aspiring authors?
Gracen: Don’t give up on writing that book. It takes lots of hard work and dedication to get it written. And don’t ever let anyone kill your dreams of being a writer! Your dreams are as important and as realistic as Joe-Schmoo who wants to be a lawyer. People tend not to take the dreams of a writer seriously, so chin-up, square your shoulders and say ‘screw them, my dreams are important, too’. Nothing agitates me more than family and friends who aren’t supportive.

  1. Last song that was stuck in your head?
Gracen: Coming Down by Five Finger Death Punch

Thanks for allowing me to join you in the spotlight, A Page Away! It was a pleasure and an honor to join you!

Featured Author....Terry Long Day 5

Author Bio:
Terry Long is the third of five vivacious girls.  When she isn’t scheming with her adoring siblings, one can most definitely catch her reading a delicious novel.  During her early adult years, she stepped into the automobile industry and dedicated a long decade in the field before discovering her true passion.  These days, Terry happily writes when opportunity presents itself—which is not as often as she wishes, though she isn’t carping.  She is married and currently resides in the heart of California with her sweetie and their newest love, a precious baby girl.

Clare Ayala, author of Michal’s Window
“Spellbinding twist... Michael Langdon is a wealthy man who makes quick judgments and gets what he wants. But when Ally Overton enters his life, Michael’s carefully planned agenda is turned topsy-turvy.”

Stefanie J Pristavu, author of Hunters
“…timeless classic with a twist.”

Interview:
1.       Where do you get your writing inspiration from?

My inspiration comes from a heavy dose of daydreaming.  When I stare at nothing long enough, plots hit me on the back of my head.

2.       Did you have to do any research for your books? If so what?

My favorite site to stop by when I stumble upon an uncertainty is Jane Austen’s World (when I write a Regency romance).  It covers everything from social customs right down to the foods these folks were served.  It’s great!

3.       What are you working on now?

I was working on a contemporary young adult romance, but it turned into an erotica.  Really, I didn’t mean for it to go that way, but I liked where it went so much, I scrolled up and happily deleted the beginning of the story.  It involves an assassin and that’s all I’ll say.  If things go according to plan, it will be completed by spring 2013.

4.       What is the hardest part of writing for you?

Finding time.  There is just not enough time in a day and there’s so much to be written.

5.       What can readers expect next?

I have another historical romance due to be released in December in the form of a fancy anthology.  It’s called, His Indecent Christmas Proposal, which features characters from my debut novel, The Notorious Proposal.  I had a lot of fun writing it.  Since it’s fewer than 15K words, we get to all the delicious stuff right away!

6.       What question have you always wanted to be asked in an interview and how would you answer that question?

Question: If you could have lunch with anyone, who would it be?
My Answer: Mozart.  I would love to know what inspired him to write and compose so beautifully.  But if it had to be someone living, because well, you know, it would be kind of scary to share your table with a deceased, then of course, I’d love to have author Julie Garwood.  J

7.       If you were writing a book about your life, what would the title be?

Memoirs of the Greatest, Most Sweetest Woman Alive.  Hah!  Alright…It would probably be titled, Supermommy!

8.       Who is your favorite author?

Hands down, Julie Garwood.  This woman paints, draws, sings with words.

9.       What is your guilty pleasure?

Going to bed with my very understanding and forgiving husband on one side and my muse on the other.

10.   Highest point of your writing career?

Oh, this is easy: Receiving a publishing contract from the first and only company I submitted my novel to.  Naturally, I reeled in this extraordinary news for weeks, overwhelmed and ecstatic!

11.   Advice for aspiring authors?

Finish.  Just finish.

12.   Last song that was stuck in your head?

Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Hot Dog song.  I know, I know.
