Featured Author.....MaryLynn Bast Day 1

NO REMORSE
About the book:
Due to her unusual birth, Amber has abilities no other werewolf has ever possessed. On the run since childhood, the lone wolf avoids contact with other werewolves at all cost, continually moving, constantly looking over her shoulder and always alone. Everything changes when Amber saves a werewolf from the mere brink of death, Blake, the only werewolf to ever protect her. Love blossoms, but not without tribulations when Amber realizes she must help her new pack rescue a member who is being held hostage by a rival pack. Warring with emotions of going from lone wolf to the pack leader’s mate, Amber must decide if she is willing to risk Blake’s life to know true family and friendship despite the fact that the Council is hell bent on locating her and will stop at nothing until she is found. Will Amber’s special abilities be enough to keep everyone safe?

My review:

No Remorse is Book 1 of the Heart of a Wolf Series by MaryLynn Bast.  The book follows, Amber, a lone werewolf as she finds a mate as well as a pack and finds out who she really is.  Her past comes back full force and she has to quickly realize who she is.  Amber realizes she was never as alone as she once thought.  I fell in love with this book and with a few of the characters.  It was difficult to put down.  MaryLynn quickly put herself on my list of top writers.  It was greatly written and the story line flowed smoothly.  There is twist which can change everything.  This was my first read by MaryLynn Bast and I can happily say it will not be my last.  I look forward to the second book and more from her.  I highly recommend this book and give it 5 out of 5 stars.
*This book does contain adult material.

 A Justified Kill

About the book:
Amber will go to any lengths to avoid the werewolf council who hunts her – even leaving behind the one person she cares for the most. Traveling across the US, she avoids other packs and remains on the run by working in backwoods bars.
Always alone, she never gets involved. One day she overhears a conversation by one of the bars patrons. With her senses on high alert, Amber cannot ignore the warning signs. Following the man to his campsite, she finds out why.
Amber must decide if she can allow herself to be drawn in to rescue the person being held hostage. Or should she stick by her rules of not getting involved? With the impending first shift to werewolf, her bloodlust will take over. Can she go against her personal rule of not killing a human, and if so, would it be A Justified Kill?

My Review:
A Justified Kill is set as a “prequel” to No Remorse (which is the first book in the Heart of a Wolf series).  Side note: You don’t HAVE to read one to understand the other, although they are great books and I would say if you read one you should read the other.  A Justified Kill is a great story outside of the series, but is a great addition to it.  MaryLynn has done it again.  A Justified Kill gives readers a look into Ambers past and helps understand more of the why’s about her.  Struggling with her past and dealing with her present, Amber finds herself at a crossroads in her life and has to decide which path to take.  Should she do what her instincts are telling her or do what she’s always done and moved on.  She doesn’t realize that her decision will change her future forever.  MaryLynn is a brilliant writer, who writes with such passion that it’s hard not to feel something when reading her books.  She does an amazing job of writing with such detail that you feel like part of the story.  I love her characters and can’t wait to read in the series.  I highly recommend this book and give it 5 out of 5.
