Raine Thomas' 'Meant for Her' Blog Tour

**Mature Content Warning** This is a New Adult novel recommended for ages 17+ due to language, sexual content, and mature subject matter.

Photographer Sierra Stratton views the world through a lens all her own. She has an uncanny sense about people, something that often causes her trouble. When she meets the sexy and brooding Evan Dorsey, her intuition tells her he’s suffering, and she wants to be the one to help him.  Evan isn’t open to help from anyone, however. His focus is on his Major League career and making himself as marketable as possible for his upcoming free agency. He plans to ride out the season in Atlanta and then sign with another team, away from the painful memories that haunt him.  Someone’s eager to send him on his way, too. Between anonymous threats and equipment sabotage, it’s clear he’s earned himself an enemy along the way. To him, it’s one more sign that he’s right to move on. But Sierra threatens his conviction. Her contagious smile proves hard to resist, as does her kiss. She tempts him in ways he never anticipated, making him question his plans for the first time. If he’s not careful, she might just convince him that he’s meant for her.

Excerpt from Meant for Her by Raine Thomas

She saw one of the building’s employees, Oliver Werner, sitting behind the counter and crossed the lobby to greet him. He got to his feet, towering over her by more than a foot.

“Hi, Oliver.”

“Hi there, Ms. Sierra. Nice to see you.”

She winked at him. “This is Evan Dorsey. He’s checking out 4-B.”

“Is that right?” Oliver held out his hand and Evan shook it. “Pleasure to meet you, Mr. Dorsey. Can’t find a better place to live in this city, I assure you. We’ll take real good care of you here.”

“I like what I see so far,” Evan said.

Sierra wondered if it was a coincidence that his dark blue eyes shifted to her after he said that. In either case, her pulse quickened.

What harm could there be in fantasizing about a compliment from a hot ballplayer? It was healthy, really.

“Thanks, Oliver. We’ll be down in a bit.”

They headed to the elevator. She punched a code into the keypad to the right of the doors. As they closed, she looked at Evan to explain what she’d done. He was staring at her. She expected him to look away when she caught him.

He didn’t.

“When you’ve signed the lease, you’ll get your own code,” she said.

“When I sign it?”

She smiled. He might not have made up his mind about moving in just yet, but she already knew how this was going to end.

“There are four apartments each on floors two and three,” she continued as though she hadn’t heard him, “and two larger apartments on four. Only the tenants on each floor can access their floor.”

“Unless they give the code out to everyone they know.”

“Sure. We do change the codes regularly to try and prevent issues, and ask tenants to let us know if there’s any reason they need their personal codes changed. As with most secure buildings shared by multiple tenants, nothing is guaranteed.”

The elevator stopped and the doors opened up into a long hallway with hardwood floors and a vibrant carpet runner. Two large windows along the left side of the hall allowed sunlight to flood in. A few framed black and white photographs of some of the more interesting architectural elements of the complex hung along the right wall. The door to 4-B was straight ahead at the end of the hallway. Halfway there, they passed the door to 4-A on the left.

“Who lives in that apartment?” Evan asked.

She paused as she reached the door to 4-B. “Aunt Caroline didn’t tell you?”

“No.”

“Oh.”

She turned and unlocked the door to 4-B. They walked in, neither of them mentioning that she hadn’t answered his question. She started talking as she moved from room to room, figuring he was listening even if he wasn’t following her.

“As you can see, this apartment has lots of character and natural light. It’s over seventeen hundred square feet and has two large bedrooms, two full baths. Separate laundry. The kitchen has been completely updated with granite and stainless steel. Natural hardwood floors throughout. Neutral paint on the walls, but you’re welcome to change it once you move in. There are two real brick walls and exposed ductwork to enhance the loft feel. It’s a very open floorplan with—”

She turned and almost collided with Evan’s chest. Apparently, he had been following her.

“You’re in 4-A, aren’t you?” he asked.

She smiled.

“I’ll take it,” he said.

Interview:
1. Where do you get your writing inspiration from?

The inspiration for each of my stories has come from real life experiences. For example, my YA fantasy romance series about the Estilorians all came about because of my previous work in the field of children’s mental health. I was inspired by a 17-year-old young woman who overcame a rough upbringing and made something of herself. My New Adult contemporary romance, For Everly, was inspired by events in my own life. Inspiration is all around us, and I love to draw on it!

2. Did you have to do any research for your books? If so what?

I do all kinds of research for my books. For my YA books, I research myths and legends that I can twist and incorporate into the fantasy world I’ve created. I’ve also studied all kinds of fighting techniques and weaponry to write those kinds of scenes more accurately. Before writing For Everly, I interviewed a physical therapist and a retired pro baseball player to make sure I was writing accurately about my characters’ backgrounds and day-to-day routines. And most recently, I interviewed a professional photographer before writing Meant for Her for the same reasons.

3. What are you working on now?

At this very moment, I’m working on the launch of Meant for Her and editing a book (Fissure, Interred Chronicles #2) for another author published under the Iambe Books label (Marilyn Almodovar).

4. What is the hardest part of writing for you?

Finding the time to do it. I work full-time as the Director of Operations for a wedding planning company. I’m also an editor, publisher, wife, and mother. Time is a rare commodity in my world!

5. What can readers expect next?

Once I finish this editing project, I’ll be writing Deceive, the seventh book in my YA Estilorian series, followed by For the Win, the next New Adult spinoff from For Everly. There’s a third project in the works, too, but I won’t be revealing more details about that until early 2014.

6. If you were writing a book about your life, what would the title be?

Let the Universe Speak. I know…it sounds transcendental or something, doesn’t it? But I’ve come to believe very strongly in fate and that all things happen for a reason. Everything coming to
fruition in my life now wouldn’t be possible if the timing had been different, or if I hadn’t experienced everything I did earlier in my life.

7. Who is your favorite author?

Nora Roberts. She writes characters in a way that always makes me connect with them.

8. What is your guilty pleasure?

Mexican food. Anything melty with lots of cheese!

9. Highest point of your writing career?

This is a tie between For Everly making the Top 100 on Amazon and my Daughters of Saraqael trilogy getting optioned by a movie producer.

10. Advice for aspiring authors?

If you have a story in you, write it. Don’t make excuses. I work almost 60 hours a week and I’m raising a family, but I still manage to fit in writing time. Even if you write one sentence a day, you’re making progress towards achieving your dreams!

11. Last song that was stuck in your head?

Since I just heard it on the radio, this would be Berzerk by Eminem.
