Getting to know B.Berry-

B. Berry has written two murder mysteries using Boston, Massachusetts as the backdrop. COLD CRAZY is a story of a young beautiful nurse who has been brutally and senselessly murdered. COLD SERIAL is about a serial killer who is terrorizing young women. Although B. Berry prefers to write about murder, her first book, EVEN NUMBERS is a story of a young girl who was molested by her father and then ultimately raised by him. She would like to keep the subject of child molestation and child rape in the forefront of our minds. Her newest release is a historical fiction based on the Black Movement during the sixties at the time of Bloody Sunday. The story is an important one with a murder in the background of an extremely tumultuous time in American history. B. Berry lives in Florida where she writes full-time.

A few questions:

Why did you decide to become a writer?
As with most writers, I’ve always made decisions to write. I only followed through with being published for the first time in 2007.
 Who/what are your writing inspirations?
No one person inspired me to write…it came naturally. I suffered from low-self esteem as a child and writing was a way I expressed my thoughts instead of vocalizing them.
What are your favorite genres to read?
I love cozy murder mysteries, quirky contemporary fiction.
What do you hope readers take away most from your writing?
I hope my readers develop a love for my characters and the realization that I write a memorable story.
Who’s the favorite character of yours that you’ve written and why?
Pearl, from CLOTHESLINE BLUES is my favorite character because of her stamina and strength she has while living in a world that is determined to bring her down.
What is your writing style? Outliner/Planner or Seat of the Pantser?
I use a rough outline; it changes as I develop the story, but keeps me going in the right direction.
