Blog Spot: Patricia Neely Dorsey

Wanting to show a different side of my state and region than all of the negatives usually portrayed, I try to paint beautiful pictures of Mississippi and the South with words...for all to see and enjoy. The beauty of Mississippi (the South) and its people is much of why I so passionately do what I do. It is a very misunderstood place. I seek to shed a positive light on the southern way of life. My slogan is "Always, Always Celebrating the South and Promoting a Positive Mississippi ".

I believe that poetry should be assessable, readable, and enjoyable for all ages. I think that my poems fit that description. With the simple language and relatable themes, they can be read, enjoyed and understood by readers of all ages 8 to 80 (and beyond). There is definitely something in both books for everyone.

"To understand the world, one must first understand a place like Mississippi.” William Faulkner
