The Goblin and the Girl by Neil Irani {Read in Jan. 2012}

I found this to be a very touching story and perfect for any children who are uncertain about themselves or have any questions on self image. It is wonderfully written and illustrated.  I also think that this book can really help many children in how they view themselves.  I would think it to be more for elementary aged kids.  For a children’s book I give it 4 out of 5 stars.

Remembering Zane by J.S. Wilsoncroft {Read Feb. 1, 2012}

This was a great novella about love after tragedy.  I couldn’t put it down.  High school friends are brought back together by a death that changes the course of their lives forever.  This was a very emotional read on many levels.  It was greatly written and flowed extremely well.  I found myself wanting to read more about their high school days as well as their future life.  It is a great story of finding love through obstacles of life and has a very touching ending.  This was a great romantic read.  I can’t wait to read more from J.S. Wilsoncroft.  I would definitely recommend it and give it 4.5 out of 5 stars.

A Bite’s Tale: A Furry Fable by Veronica Blade {Read Jan. 2012}

This was a great supernatural story with a fairy tale twist.  I actually wanted to read more.  The story is about a summer love that goes beyond summer. It’s about a prince falling in love with a not so ordinary girl.  Like most fairy tales there’s a ball, only this one includes vampires, werewolves, and warlocks. Cydney and Remy’s story has so many possibilities.  I would love to read more about them.  I loved the way the book was written and look forward to reading more of Veronica Blade’s work.  I also really loved the cover art for the book. I would defiantly recommend the book and give it 5 out of 5 stars.

The Fearsome Beastie by Giles Paley-Phillips {Read in Jan. 2012}

*With help from my three year old son.

This book was very cute book written by Giles Paley-Phillips.  It is wonderfully written and illustrated.  I have had to read it to my son several times.  He loves the colors and pictures.  He really enjoys the rhyming.  I think it is a very courageous book for kids who have fears of monsters.  I think there is also a hidden message of not always trusting something just because of the way it looks.  On a children’s book level I give it 4 out of 5 stars.

Wolf House (Potter’s Story) by Tim O’Rourke {Read Jan. 2012}

Wolf House is number 4.5 in the Kiera Hudson series by Tim O’Rourke.  As with all of the other books in this series it was amazing.  It goes into a story from Potter’s past that actual gives insight into other things from the past.  Including how Murphy got his limp and how Potter met Murphy and Luke.  It also goes deeper into things that happened in Vampire Breed.  Like the others this book was full of suspense from beginning to end. I give the book 5 out of 5 stars.  I defiantly recommend it.  I am anxiously waiting for Feb. 13th when Vampire Hollows comes out.
